Simply put, The Cloister is a space where we are seeking to explore the integration of work/study and prayer, in community.
This has been inspired by the monastic rhythms of the Benedictine order of Ora et Labora (prayer and work). Our heart behind this is twofold:
In our frenetic and hurried culture, we sense the deep need and yearning for another way of existing, and as followers of Jesus we see this alternative made possible in Him and with Him. If this is something that captures your imagination, resonates with you or if you just want to know more and have questions then please feel free to contact us.

Please reach us at htmissioner@wtanglican.nz if you cannot find an answer to your question.
If possible we do ask for a regular koha (donation) to help with covering costs. This can be as small as a couple of dollars a week. But we don't want money to ever be a barrier so please don't let it be one for you if in this season finances are an issue.
COFFEE, TEA & WIFI available for everyone whether a donation is made or not, because we think you are amazing!
Daily office is simply a term used for a particular rhythm at set moments of the day, that can be practiced by yourself or with others. This can include prayer, reading of scripture, contemplation / meditation, silence, unplugging and more.
As for participating, this is completely invitational but highly recommended. The express purpose of this space is to help those coming, to encounter something of God's presence in their work, resting and in community with others.
Currently we do not have any private meeting rooms. The Sugar Bowl cafe is a 2 minute walk down the hill for those who are wanting to meet clients.
The working space is intended for quiet and focused work. There is lofi music that plays in the background to help those who need a level of ambient noise. We have spaces where you can take calls, chat to others and eat your lunch, but we ask everyone to respect the working space.
We understand that peoples work allows for varying break lengths and so the time marked out for morning and afternoon tea and lunch is there as a guide to remind us to stop and catch our breaths.
What a great and important question! We offer single origin batch brew and are proud to be drinking Rocket Coffee, a local specialty coffee roaster in Kirikiriroa, Hamilton.
At this stage we are not providing any food to help keep operating costs down.
